In My Own Skims - Group empowerment session

In today's society, the pressure to conform to certain beauty standards can be overwhelming. The media bombards us with images of flawless models and celebrities, making us believe that we need to look a certain way to feel beautiful. However, true beauty lies in embracing your own unique qualities and feeling confident in your own skin. This is what lead me to create the ‘In My Own Skims’ project.

I hand picked each woman to participate after reading their applications, I wanted these women to feel heard as well as represented as they are today.

We all made a day of getting glammed up, drinking wine, Dr. Pepper, and coffee as well as snacking on some sweet treats, because who knew id forget the fresh fruit? Oops!

Each woman had their moment to be in the spotlight individually and styled with a soft glowing glam by our professional artist Carley with Carley Hair and Makeup.

From there each woman changed into their skims at the studio in Downtown Houston where we began with affirmations and 3 things we physically love about our appearance.

The diverse group of women I had before me made me feel so warm, knowing that we all one thing in common and that was that we were their love ourselves and our bodies the way we were.

As the session went by, the fastest 2.5 hours of my life I seen every one open up and connect with each other. One of the brilliant ideas was a game of telephone on the couch, where the keyword was ‘Big bootylicious Peach’ and somehow translated to something nowhere relevant. Which ultimately is the goal, but had everyone laughing.

Once our group portion was complete, I was able to break away with each woman and get some individualized images to take away.

With this being said, I can not wait to host another group empowerment session where women feel so beautiful in their own skin.

Participating in a group empowerment photoshoot allows you to share your experience with others. By sharing your journey, you can inspire and empower others to embrace their own beauty. The photos can be shared on social media or in personal conversations, spreading a message of self-love and acceptance. By being open about your own journey, you create a safe space for others to do the same.
