Yvette’s Experience

Yvette shares her own Boudoir Experience

What made you decide to schedule a boudoir session?

I've been a stay at home, breastfeeding Mom for 4 plus years now and all I have thought  when I get dressed is this nursing friendly. When I look in the mirror, all I see is a Mom. My Mom and SIL have jokingly called me a human cow.  Obviously I'm serving a wonderful purpose but I truly wanted to feel like more than a Mom, more than a house wife. I wanted to feel like a woman again. I wanted to feel like the pre-Mom me.

How did you feel beforehand?

Nervous. Anxious. Excited. The entire hour and a half drive to, my chest felt tight. I had made it my goal to workout, lose a few pounds, build some muscle back but with two kids; it was nearly impossible. I wanted to reschedule to give myself another try but I told myself to just do it and stop letting the fear take me away from the experience.

What was your favorite part of the experience?

Marissa's wonderful team, the kindness from all, the thoughtfulness and gentle care during the entire process. I can't pick just one aspect of the experience, the entire team make the experience worthwhile.

I felt like a well taken care of Goddess by the entire team. Marissa took care of my energy level with a favorite coffee order, my hunger by offering me food, and my comfort by making sure the room temperature and the music was to my liking. She assisted me with bra straps, clasps and respectfully asked if I wanted help applying gold flakes to my body. She is the sweetest when she helps you pose and I like her 1,2,3 count to let you know when you need to hold the pose and when you can relax.

Carley during hair and makeup asked me what I have loved and hated about past makeup applications. She also complemented me on my cheeks and face structure, something no one has ever done. I felt so pretty even before looking in the mirror. When I did, I nearly cried and beautiful and full my hair looked and how effortlessly perfect the makeup looked. She even left me with an oil blotter, a pot of the lipstick she used on me with an applicator, and an eye mask for later use.

How did you feel afterwards?

I felt like life had been breathed back into me.  It's one thing for your husband to love your body. It's another to see your face and body in pictures and be left in a daze because of how unbelievable if feels to be looking at yourself with new eyes. The experience is certainly empowering.

What would you say to someone who is nervous about scheduling a boudoir session?

Book your session. Give yourself grace in terms of your body and even payment time (which by the way Marissa is very accommodating). Your body is amazing and beautiful just the way it is. Marissa will listen to your concerns and your favorites and will bring out the best outfit choices and poses to make you feel and look amazing.
